WHERE DID CRAZY HAIR DAY ORIGINATE?

I have wondered this and had to do a little research and found out that the first annual Crazy Hair Day celebration took place in San Diego on Wednesday, March 10, 2004. Jennifer Case Nevarez and author Barney Saltzberg met at the annual Society of Children’s Book Writer’s and Illustrators in Los Angeles, Jennifer suggested the crazy idea based on the book Crazy Hair Day by Barney Saltzberg. They teamed up with the Children’s Museum and Starbucks to launch a city-wide reading campaign in San Diego to promote the joy of reading and build community . More than 500 BOOKS were donated by Starbucks Coffee Company. More than 500 VOLUNTEERS and celebrity readers read to more than 8,000 children and adults in more than 120 LOCATIONS in San Diego.
